John Geddie - Messenger of the Love of Christ in Eastern Melanesia

John Geddie..

The love of Christ captivated his young heart.
The love of Christ animated his missionary labours.
The love of Christ irradiated all his day.

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.
Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

~ Revelations 1:5,6

This was the text that captivated his heart.
This was the text that animated his labours.
This was the text that irradiated all his days.

The Redeemer's command was his incentive.
The Redeemer's presence was his consolation.
The Redeemer's yoke was his privilege.
The Redeemer's love was his inspiration.

John Geddie, a missionary sent from Nova Scotia to Aneiteum for twenty-four years..

When he landed in 1848, there were no Christians here, and when he left in 1872 there were no heathen..
